Nanette Miller, CPA, CITP

Co President CPA(ret), MBA and CITP(ret)

Nanette recently retired as a senior partner in a National CPA Firm where she specialized in mergers and acquisitions, turn arounds and both private and public company audits. She also had extensive experience with not-for profits and healthcare. She was the first female board chair of a top 50 CPA firm. Nanette has been involved in the LGBTQ community for over 40 years serving on various boards often as treasurer or president. She was involved in the successful mergers of 18th Street Services and Operation Concern which resulted in New Leaf Services. She was on the board which completed the construction and related fund raising of the SF LGBTQ community center. She was involved of the merger of SFGMC foundation into SFGMC. Nanette was on MHR Aids Support Group board for 20 years and president for 10 years while also being the first out gay person at Catholic Charities board for 16 years where she was very involved with their AIDS outreach in services and housing.. She was a member of GGBA for 20 years and a past president of that organization. Besides Open House which she is very passionate about, she currently is treasurer for Breast Cancer Prevention Partners as a result of her partner being a double breast cancer survivor.

Tim Sweeney


Tim has worked for 40 years to advance equality for all people regardless of sexual orientation or gender expression. His first political organizing experience occurred in California, working alongside Harvey Milk to defeat a ballot proposition that would have banned gay people from teaching in public schools. He has served as the Executive Director/CEO of several leading LGBTQ organizations including: the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, Gay Men’s Health Crisis, the Empire State Pride Agenda and the Gill Foundation from 2007 to 2013. He is currently a consultant at the Haas Jr. Fund and provides support to multiple foundations, organizations and social justice coalitions across the country.

Bill Lowell


Bill is the recently retired director of the San Mateo County Department of Housing which manages the county’s housing related social safety net programs as well as financial programs for new affordable housing development. He is currently a community development and affordable housing consultant. Bill earned his MBA in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business and his Master of Divinity degree from the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA.

Joaquin Castillo-Araña, Secretary


Joaquin is the Program Manager of Limited Distribution Indirect Sales at Genetech. He is experienced in National Payer, SP & PBM contracts with a history in Managed Care and Medical Staff Credentialing. He has strong operational and professional skills in working with multiple stakeholders and envisioning and implementing efficiencies. Joaquin has a Masters of Public Administration focused in Health Services Administration from the University of San Francisco.

Randi Gerson

Executive Committee Representative

Randi Gerson has 25+ years of expertise in all facets of the real estate development life cycle in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. She has managed both large and small-scale projects from conception and entitlement, to design and construction–all culminating in fully completed and operational buildings. She is currently the Vice President of Real Estate Development for Kylli, Inc.

Billy Curtis

Billy has served for over 20 years as the Director of the Gender Equity Resource Center at the University of California, Berkeley. He is highly experienced in transmission facilitation, diversity training and development, management, community organizing, student development, policy analysis, and social media. Billy is a renowned and committed community activist and advocate who has been involved with multiple organizations and movements and was honored as a San Francisco Pride Community Grand Marshal in 2018.

Chris Davidson

Chris is an expert in fundraising and growing companies with a focus in venture capital, startups, technology, real estate, medical cannabis and hedge funds. Chris has raised in excess of $500M throughout his career and helped grow numerous businesses. Chris founded Map n Scale, an Investment and Advisory Company, in 2018 to leverage his background in scaling companies. Chris also serves as an expert on the Advisory Board of StartOut.

Maite Echaniz, OTR/L

Maite is a leader in aging services with 15+ years of experience in both direct clinical care and administrative roles. She is currently the Regional Director for the PACE Program at Kaiser Permanente. She is a licensed Occupational Therapist. She has a wider range of healthcare management and administration experience and highly skilled in program design, planning, and implementation.

Jeffrey Kohler

Jeffrey is a Real Estate manager with 20+ years experience managing large scale developments across California, including a number of low-income and senior housing projects. He is currently the Vice President of Operations for Mercy Housing. In addition, Jeff is active in a number of non-profit organizations involved in seniors housing, including in his role as acting Executive Director of Martin Luther Towers.

Jenna Rapues, MPH

Jenna is a known leader in public and transgender health in government, research, academic and public health institutions. She is currently the Program Director of Gender Health SF at the San Francisco Department of Public Health. She is highly skilled in business development and has a Master’s of Public Health from San Francisco State University. In 2019 she received an Outstanding American By Choice award from Congresswoman Jackie Spier.

Morey Riordan

Morey is Principal of Riordan Strategies– a consulting practice dedicated to assisting national social justice organizations and philanthropic groups. In 2018, he led the creation of the Transgender Strategy Center and serves as the Founding Director. Mr. Riordan is a respected leader in the fields of philanthropy, HIV/AIDS, women’s health, and LGBT issues, having held a number of leadership roles within HIV/AIDS-focused organizations.

Juan Carlos “JC” Wallace

JC is a founding principal of Oryx Partners, LLC, a San Francisco based real estate investment advisory and development firm. He has a strong history in real estate development including sourcing, structuring, and closing new real estate opportunities. JC holds a BA degree in Economics from the U.C. Berkeley, and an MBA degree with a Real Estate Certificate from U.C. Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.

Susan Zieff, PhD

Susan is a professor at San Francisco State University in the Department of Kinesiology. She is the Director and Founder of the Active Living across the Lifespan Research group and member of the Health Equity Institute at SFSU. Her research focuses on social justice and equity issues associated with physical activity access, opportunity and level of engagement. She has a doctoral degree in Human Biodynamics from the University of California at Berkeley.
