ABOUT US

Celebrating 10 Years of Breaking Ground

Back in 1998, openhouse co-founders Marcy Adelman and Jeanette Gurevitch created our non-profit organization for one simple, but heroic reason: to ensure that each of us is able to age with dignity, grace and support in the place we’ve always called home. Since that time, openhouse has served aging lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people through a range of housing, services and community programs designed to meet the unique needs of our growing population of seniors. And today, we’re about to break ground on our first LGBT-welcoming senior housing facility at 55 Laguna in San Francisco. We’ve come a long way!

Since our founding, hundreds of volunteers, staff, donors and governmental agencies have been at the core of our success. Here’s just a few of the folks at work in openhouse right now striving every day to meet and exceed the imperatives of our mission.
